R. S. Keshavamurthy

Vidwan R S Keshavamurthy (1903 -1982) was one more eminent musician from the celebrated Rudrapatna lineage. His forefathers were known for their vedic scholarship and veena playing. After initial training from his father Veena Subbarao, nineteen year old Keshavamurthy moved to Mysore and trained under Bhakshi Subbanna (Veena Subbanna), and became his most recognized disciple.Veena Subbanna, in his final days, gifted his most favourite disciple with his highly ornate Veena and blessed him.

In his earlier days, Keshava Murthy had performed in northern India as well.Vidwan Keshava Murthy had earned laurels from many sabhas with titles such as Vainika Praveena and Ganakalabhushana. He is credited with inventing the 24 stringed Veena.
